Facilities

The facilities at Heritage at Otay Ranch are first-rate. There are many public parks, walking trails, and entry cottages for all residents and homeowners.

Parks
- Heritage Park, a 10-acre agrarian-themed city of Chula Vista neighborhood park, opened in August 2002. Located in the heart of the first village of Heritage, amenities include a scenic pond, outdoor turf amphitheater, 5,900 square foot community center, tot lots, picnic groves and multi-use lawn areas.
- Harvest Park, a 6.4 acre city of Chula Vista park, is nearby and features ball fields and picnic facilities. Two additional city of Chula Vista parks are also under construction.
- Santa Venetia Park, located in the village of Hillsborough, is a 7.6 acre park planned to include a softball field, sport field, basketball courts and a small informal skateboard area.
- Horizon Park, located in Heritage Hills, is a 5.3 acre park planned to include a softball field with a soccer overlay, basketball court, tot lot and council ring.

Schools - Three new elementary schools are now open within the boundaries of the Chula Vista Elementary School District. Heritage Elementary, Otay Ranch's first elementary school in the village of Heritage, opened in July 2001 and McMillin Elementary opened in September 2001. A third elementary school opened in September 2003 on the western edge of Otay Ranch in the community of Sunbow. The new 50-acre Otay Ranch High School, within the boundaries of the Sweetwater Union High School District, opened to ninth and tenth graders on July 21, 2003.
